MN Healing Stories Sacred Sites Tour

Be part of healing Minnesota by visiting Dakota sacred sites and learning stories of the Dakota people, stories that make invisible pain visible. These stories invite us into a shared reality, fostering deeper connection and understanding of the Dakota people. “Both the listener and storyteller are healed through their actions in storytelling.”

Churches and faith communities can promote healing by embracing history and listening to Native stories. As we engage with these stories, we shift our focus from ourselves to others. Through this tour we will get a glimpse of how much greater and more creative God is than we may have previously understood.

This event is open to up to 50 people who are involved with the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities community, high school age and above. Thanks to a grant from the Bethlehem Foundation, the cost for this event is only $20/person.

We will start and finish the day at Spirit Garage, so folks can carpool to the different sites we will visit.

Bring a lunch with you and a chair that you can carry if you need to sit at times during the tour.

Paddle the St. Croix: Taylor’s Falls to Osceola

It’s that time of year again! Let’s kayak the St. Croix together! If you’ve never been this is a great time to go. It is important for you to be fit enough to get in and out of a kayak or canoe, but the actual kayaking is not difficult.

Most folx will meet at Spirit Garage and then carpool to Taylors Falls, with the hopes of getting on the water around 2 pm. We will paddle to Osceola State Park and shuttle back to Taylors Falls. Bring your own late afternoon snack/supper and we’ll picnic at the park after our paddle. Then we’ll find some place for ice cream in Taylor’s Falls. Sounds like an amazing day, right?

Contact Peter Wemeier who will coordinate rides and help coordinate kayaks/canoes, etc. There are boats available for rent: $37/single kayak, $52 double kayak or canoe. Additionally everyone will need to pay $20 for the shuttle ride. We have access to some boats of our own, mostly through Peter.

If you want to go on this adventure but aren’t sure you can pay for it, talk to us and we’ll work this out with funds from the church and/or a seat in one of the extra boats available. Cool? Cool.

Olympics Watch Party, service project and lunch!

Come together on one of the last days of the Olympics. We’ll be watching events together while also doing a couple service projects. Using our partners in giving dollars we’ll be buying supplies for schools in the neighborhood, and also filling some daytime needs for people who stay in Our Saviors Housing short term shelter. Together, we’ll make some kits, maybe some sandwiches. We’ll also share food together because eating together is always good!

Kingfield Porchfest

Kingfield Porchfest is the best event of the summer. All kinds of people come out of their houses, set up music on front porches and lawns, and play music. All kinds of other people walk around and hear great music. Meet at Meraki at 6 PM, and we’ll walk the neighborhood together (or in small groups) to check out some of the local music flavors.
