Thank you for a very successful event at Loring Park.  Spirit Garage hosted and coordinated the clean up which had 198 volunteers!  The total area cleaned included Loring Park, the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens, and nearly a 3-block radius around loring park accounting for 165 acres.  Spirit Garage members were personally responsible for nearly 25% of the total.

Thanks again for all your help!  Bo

Earth Day RecycleRun - April 20th - 9 am

Submitted by john6481 on February 26, 2008 - 11:49am.

Burn some of that pent-up winter energy and give back to the environment in the Recycle Run around Lake Harriet on Sunday, April 20. The event features a 5K Walk/Run and a Kids’ Half-Mile Run.  Presented by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) and the City of Minneapolis, proceeds from the Recycle Run will benefit future Minneapolis Earth Day Watershed Clean-Up efforts, an event that Spirit Garage is coordinating this year.

The Kids’ Run begins at 8:45 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. Both races begin at the Lake Harriet Bandshell.  Spirit Garage runners can meet by the big tree by the bathroom pavilion (just below where we have the annual SG BBQ) 15 minutes before the race.  We will also be car pooling back to Spirit Garage to catch the service at 10:30.

The first 500 pre-registered participants will receive a FREE ticket to a Minnesota Twins game. Additionally, pre-participants are guaranteed a Performance T-shirt and Water Bottle for helping support this important cause.

Sign up online at www.minneapolisrecyclerun.com or print out a registration form.  See Bo Johnston (bo.johnston@gmail.com) for more info and let him know if you plan on running the race so we can expect to see you then.

  • Location: Lake Harriet Bandshell, Minneapolis
  • Start: 20 Apr 2008 - 8:45am
