God made the heavens and the earth and said, “It is good.” And then God did one more thing, placed the care of the earth into our hands. What does it mean to be an Earth Keeper? Come and explore the Bible as get to know others and learn how to care for the only mortal home we have - Earth.  There are 4 Small Groups to consider. Have you seen "Story of Stuff"?
The Story of Stuff http://www.storyofstuff.com will take you on a provocative tour of our consumer-driven culture — from resource extraction to iPod incineration — exposing the real costs of our use-it and lose-it approach to stuff.
Check out this teaser
I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be an earth creature - a creation of God. In the Bible it says in Genesis 1:26-28 that we are created in the likeness and image of God with dominion over the creation. "Dominion in the likeness of God's dominion is being-for-others love." I read that in a textbook years ago and it is on my mind. How can we be-for-others in our practices of consumption, our economy, our lives, and our world. I look forward to hearing what you think about the story of stuff. Be earth keepers who care for and protect the only home we share with all life.

Let your light shine was the theme last Sunday. Many of you received a new CFL bulb from the eco-stewardship team. Here is a "plain english" video on why to use these new bulbs. Check it out!

Last night my Earthkeepers Guide group met. I am a theologian. My group has members with various backgrounds and experiences in science, biology, and being green. In essence I'm probably the "least green" of all and I'm facilitating! The means that I am learning as I share the knowledge I have of Biblical and Theological foundations to be earthkeepers, i.e. eco-stewards. I hope all of you in your various small groups are expanding and growing in knowledge shared as you meet. Thank You! Don't forget to plan your 3rd session at a natural location or business that supports local food products. Here's a website for some ideas:

Little Things add up to Big Things is the 4th week theme of your Earthkeepers guide. This is a tough lesson of facing the prophetic reality of where we are heading UNLESS... Yes every little bit helps. If everyone cared....

Check out the Story of Stuff by Annie Leonard. We discussed it in some one of the Earthkeepers Small Groups. It is an impressive analysis of consumerism and its effect.
