Orienteering with SIA - Hyland Park - March 24

Submitted by john6481 on February 24, 2007 - 12:16pm.

Orienteering is a fast growing sport that combines running or hiking elements with map reading and compass work to find ‘control’ points in a particular order.  Orienteering meet courses range from the highly seasoned to beginner with no skills.

The first event of the season will be on March 24th at Hyland Park Reserve in Bloomington.  This is a skills development clinic with seasoned O instructors on hand to coach you in the skills of map reading, compass utilization, and other orienteering tips.  Individual start times go from 12:00 to 2:30 with skills instruction time before.

If you enjoy walking, running, hiking, or being outdoors, give the sport of orienteering a chance!  Contact Bo Johnston at bo.johnston@gmail.com or Tom Hattlestad at setspikeguy@yahoo.com for more info.
