Christmas Decorations

This year, among the many things I've lost is my collection of antique glass Christmas tree ornaments. They can't be replaced, not only because they were rare and expensive to replace, but because each brought back a memory of a particular person, year or event. I considered not having a tree this year, or going the tinsel and popcorn strand route and adding one or two special ornaments each year - unfortunately, I'd have to live to 100 for that plan to work - or just accepting a monochromatic bargain bin look, as December's a bad time to shop for ornaments. Then it dawned on me that it was time to start a new tradition: I'm asking people to donate an ornament (you'll be guaranteed to be remembered each Christmas!) and I'm thinking of thanking everyone by catering a party, perhaps Twelfth Night (Saturday, Jan. 6)... that'll give me two weeks to figure out how to replace my lost music collection and equipment.
