According to the Stand Against Poverty website, "Stand Up Against Poverty" was launched by the Millennium Campaign to remind world leaders of their promise to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

23,542,614 People stood up against poverty all over the world in "Stand Up Against Poverty" events from 10 am GMT October 15th through 10 am GMT October 16th and were counted as part of "...an official Guinness World Record for the most number of people to simultaneously stand up against poverty within 24 hours!" (www.standagainstpoverty.org).

This past Sunday, 148 people during both worship services at Spirit Garage took a stand against poverty and were added to the worldwide count!

In addition, the Spirit Garage Keep the Promise Small Group was launched.  This group was created to develop ways in which Spirit Garage can support the Millennium Development Goals, specifically to respond to the global HIV/AIDS Crisis.
