It's Friday the 13th, but Sunday's Coming. . . Spirit Garage 9th Anniversary, Sunday, October 15! With Brunch!!

Submitted by Rob on October 13, 2006 - 11:34am.

Friday the 13th. . . What does this day mean to you?

It reminds me of a Tony Campolo talk about Good Friday, the day we remember Jesus' cruxification. Many churches remember it by sharing the 7 Last Words Jesus said on the cross, with someone speaking on each verse. Tony had just finished his message and felt pretty good about it, when the next person to speak whispered in his ear, "That was pretty good, but watch this." The next speaker began speaking quietly, "It's Friday (pause), but Sunday's coming!" And repeated it a little louder, "It's Friday (pause), but Sunday's coming!" and continued to repeat it until he was screaming, "It's Friday!" And then everyone shouted back, "But Sundays Coming!!"

We can live with the superstition, the doubt, the fear, the anxiety of life, being trapped and suspended whether it's Friday the 13th or any other day of the week. Or we can remember that Sunday's coming, in fact The Sunday came - Easter Sunday, and because of what Jesus did, we can live in the here and now, plus the life everlasting, no matter what we face. These words seem to be merely words until you gather with others who know these world live, because The Word lives, Jesus. And for that we celebrate and mark time.

The Time we are marking at Spirit Garage this Sunday, October 15, 2006 is the 9th Anniversary!! Come, eat, drink, be merry. Live out that first and greatest commandment, "Love the Lord!" and when you do, you won't be able to stop yourself from doing the second one that is like it, "Love your neighbor."

We are doing that by providing a feast for brunch and inviting you to take Sunday into your week by participating in a small group or some other experience  at Spirit Garage.

See you Sunday!
Yours in Christ, Rob
