Bearing The Cross on Good Friday

Submitted by Carl on April 4, 2006 - 8:08am.

We plan on carrying the cross from Theater Garage to Bethlehem for the Good Friday service.  We have an 8 foot high cross that we have used for Good Friday during the past 2 years.   This is a chance for us to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made and the ardious journey to his cruxifiction for our sins.  Plan to start at 5:30 pm and arrive about 7:30 pm.  Contact Wade 651-336-5898 or Carl 612-790-9146.  We will have the cell phones on the walk and you can meetup on the block that you are walking or come for the entire walk.  The more who come the easier the burden.

Signup to walk a block.  Go to the link below and hit the EDIT key and enter your name and hit SAVE key.  Otherwise respond to this email or volunteer at church this coming Sunday.

Good Morning Everybody, This would be a great opportunity to do the 14 stations of the cross. I have a prayer book from DeMontreville that has all of actions in it, like when he falls each time, when Veronica wipes the sweat fom his brow, etc. and the prayers for each event.

Would anybody else be interested in this?

There are several sites that offer meditations etc, on this, but I'll make a copy of the prayer book I have to give you. We'll be there for the second service. See you then.

The stations of the cross sounds cool. Let's do it. Rick what do you think the best way to handle it will be?

Well, I just printed off a booklet thingy from Creighton University. For each station there is a description, a meditation, and a prayer.

I also have an old Catholic prayer book that has responsorial stuff. I like it better, because it is more programmatic. Someone says the prayer, and the group responds. There is also some latin stuff.

I think it might work if we hand out the scripts to everybody, and they can participate as much or as little as they want to.

There are about 21 blocks between points A and B, so I'll figure out logical stopping points. Or maybe we can look at it tomorrow.

BTW, are you up for a game of Scrabble?
