the Greatest Trick

In the 1995 Academy Award winning film The Usual Suspects, Kevin Spacey plays a crippled small time con man trying to convince the Feds of the existence of an almost mythical crime lord named Keyser Soze. No-one seems to believe that Soze exists, let alone that he is responsible for the crimes in the movie. This lack of belief in his existence allows Soze to operate with impunity, killing, stealing, and generally doing evil at will with no fear of consequences.

In the midle of the film, Spacey's character delivers the line; "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist.".

Think about it. The Enemy doesn't have to disprove or even discredit God. He just has to convince us that he doesn't exist. He knows that he will never win against the Almighty, so he aims his sights much lower: at us. We're easy to fool.  And that's all he needs to do.

Don't buy it.
