<!-- .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family:Verdana } -->Hey Everybody,
Just sharing what I am doing. Sorry for the repeat emails for those of you who are local. But if you are not doing anything, come on down to Kieran's Irish Pub Saturday for the Second Annual Spirit Garage "Let Your Light Shine" Poetry Slam for some poetry, food, drinks and fun. Also for those of you who do not know, during the poetry slam, we have a break and a "featured poet" who isn't part of the competition performs his/her original poems. Our featured poet is Khary Jackson or "6 is 9". He is an amazing performer. He is part of the St. Paul Poetry Slam team that won the national competitions this year. He is ranked in the top 10 slam poets in the nation and I believe he is ranked either 3rd or 4th slam poet in the world. Just "Google" him and you will see what I am talking about. Anyway he is one of the many who are performing for charity, hope to see you there and for those of you who are out of state, thanks for your emails and support.
Take Care,
Chad

The Second Annual Spirit Garage "Let Your Light Shine" Spiritual Poetry Slam/fundraiser was a huge success. $401 in donations!! Big thanks to the couple who agreed to match the total giving up to $300, and in the end was moved to give the full $300 regardless. Thank you everyone who participated and volunteered. This year we had a costume theme and the poets who competed were Spirit Garage poets and 3 poets from Healing Through Words. Curtis Riddle should have won a prize for best costume. Everybody competed and performed for charity and we were very successful in raising money for Spirit Garage's partnerships in giving, Clare Housing, Sharing the Dream in Guatemala and Emerson Spanish Immersion School. Thank you Wonder Dave and Slam MN for use of your slam props. Special thanks to our own Elizabeth Lasley-Lord for hosting, she did a wonderful job and she was hilarious. Thank you again Kieran's Irish Pub for hosting the event. Special thanks to our featured poet Khary Jackson. He was amazing as usual. Also thanks goes out to Spirit Garage, SG Writers Workshop, Aemon McShane for scoring, the judges, the audience and the poets who made this possible. Thank you again for everyone who donated to the cause.

Winners of the 2009 Second Annual "Let Your Light Shine Poetry Slam" were; 1st Place: Sol, Second Place: Ja4Real and Third Place: Chadword

Other poets who competed were: Deb Kellog, Mr. Chad Greenwaldt, Curtis "Miss Vivian" Riddle, and Becca "Chartreuse" Rielly

Sacrificial Poet: Empress

Featured Poet: Khary Jackson (Amazing! If you get the chance to hear him, don't miss it - Rob's addition)

Thank Again Everyone, Chad "Chadword" Maglich
