Linking Citizens and Cities for Sustainable Communities

Neighborhood Sustainability Conference –
Saturday March 13 8:30am to 4:30pm
at Central Lutheran Church, 333 12th Street South, Minneapolis 55404
(next to the Minneapolis Convention Center)

Goals of Conference:
1. Support volunteers to green their neighborhood, congregation,
school or businesses –  with project tool kits, free materials,
lawn signs a resource guide and speaker lists

2. Support citizens to partner with their city to enact sustainable
local policies - through becoming a MN Green Step City, eco-municipality or
transition community and sustainability indicators.

3. Support citizens to advocate for wise state policies to secure a
sustainable shared future.

Tom Hatlestad is looking for a few people to attend.  It's a free event to get to see what others are doing in sustainablility seeing what type of support we could get to energize our Eco-Stewardship team.

Tom will not be able to attend the this event but if you are interested please attend with Spirit Garage or your Work Place in mind.

Improvisational Acting+Spirit Garage=Garage Prov - Sun. 2/7, 2/21, 3/7, 3/21

Garage Prov-Sun. 2/7, 2/21,3/7,3/21. Hi I'm Alex! Garage Prov is back to help those to use their whole body to reflect on deep messages.  My training as an improvisational actor has improved my ability to think quickly, interact with people genuinely, and see the world as full of opportunities to say YES! Garage Prov is not about getting on stage in front of people.  We will do small group exercises, interact in a fun and theatrical way and reflect on how certain exercises can inform our spiritual outlook. If you are interested in getting on stage these exercises will help prepare you.

skating on lake of the isles and also watching the Olympics on TV,

Skate rentals are free with a warming houses too.  Hot chocolate and pizza.

Souper Bowl Sunday - Sun. 2/7

Souper Bowl Sunday is truly reason to celebrate. Before many of us gather with way too many munchies to watch overgrown, overpaid, over(fill-in-the-blank) boys play the Super Bowl, come to worship on Sunday, February 7 and take part in a Souper Bowl that makes a difference. The 2009 Spirit Garage Fantasy Football League will be making soup hoping you’ll consider making a donation. This years charity of choice will be chosen by Jay Davis with the winning team Wildfan. Congrats Jay for being the 2009 Spirit Garage Fantasy Football Champion. Let’s help him celebrate by joining in on the festivities of Souper Bowl Sunday. You’re invited to bring a soup to share, or simply come and enjoy! Cups and Spoons will be available or bring your own.

Feed My Starving Children Service Event - Tues. 3/30

How can you help the Haitian people or other starving children in their time of need with a nurishing meal.   Volunteer at Feed My Starving Children filling bags with a rice mixture formulated to nurish starving children.  You may label bags too.   For info on FMSC go to the website http://www.fmsc.org/. 

Spirit Garage will be part of an event at Feed My Starving Children Tuesday March 3th from 7:45 pm to 9:45 pm at their Coon Rapids Location.  We have 40 spots.  Sign-up at http://www.mysignup.com/sgfmscmar30  If our spots fill up for this date we can find additional dates and locations to volunteer.

Thanks to SG member Erin who works for the FMSC and has helped set this up.  This organization has had a long term relationship with Haiti feeding children there and they need our prayers, hands and donations to help feed the people of Haiti.  

Keep the Haitian people and the relief organizations in our prayers.
